MUSIC
I
can't have music samples on this site. But there are lots of samples
and downloads at terami.com
as well as Adoptaband.com.
If
you've never heard Terami before, I think she sounds like a cross
between Tori Amos, Mary Timony, Suzanne Vega, and Jewel.

These reviews are just my brief thoughts. I'm not a music critic
and so they're not the most elegant expressions. I leave that
to the pros.
STICKFIGURES
- REVIEW
I'm not really sure what to call this collection of songs! These
are intimate all the way around but it has a different feel from
both All Girl Band and Stained. First off, Terami gives a spoken
introduction at the beginning of each song. It's really cool!
But there's something else too. It's just so relaxed and intense
at the same time.
This
is the kind of music that forces you to listen. The songs are
all really beautiful too. Some of the tracks are new versions
of other songs she's recorded ("Stained" and "Metro
Joe"). But, really, the versions are so different from the
original, it's like a whole new interpretation of the meaning
of the songs! I don't know if that makes sense.
I
was expecting more of a "demo" album with Stickfigures
because of the one-take recording style. But the songs sound polished
and complete, even without the other instruments.
These
songs have so much heart and emotion poured into every lyric and
melody, you can't help but love what you hear.
I
highly recommend getting your hands on this album before copies
are gone!

STAINED
- REVIEW
This
is a 3 song promotional sampler for Terami's 2002 untitled project.
First off, I'd like to thank her for sending it out FOR FREE!
Once I heard about it, I told all my friends, because it's a great
idea to get people into new music. It's a CD-R recording, hand-pressed
and signed. So, a big thumbs up to that!
These
three songs are very, very different from what we heard on All
Girl Band. The main difference is the production, not the songwriting.
These songs have a really gorgeous, rich sound. My favorite song
is The River because it is so "off". It's a waltz and
it just moves in a really kooky kind of way. Stained has a lot
of really beautiful imagery about leaving your mark in a relationship.
Lyrically, it's my favorite of her songs. Falling is a little
more "normal" than the other two songs. It seems more
like something that would play on the radio.
I
loved these songs because they maintain an intimate, personal
feel while exploring a new sound. Makes me excited to hear the
rest of the new album!

GIRL BAND - REVIEW
From
the second that I put this album in my player, it didn't want
to leave. These songs are so intimate and heartfelt! I really
cried on the song Lullaby. But the music is so beautiful, the
song transcends the initial saddness. I also really loved Borderline,
a very odd sounding song, that just makes me feel like my relationship
with my parents is normal.
The
common thread through all these songs is the openness in which
they're delivered. Not a song on here is too personal to share.
It's like reading an open book. Everything is easy an available
to share. (Especially the opening song!! WOW!)
But
Terami is also a wonderful pianist. Sometimes I think she underplays
her talent by working with simple melodies. I really like that.
I think that a lot of pianists in particular, like to show off
their training. Terami doesn't and it works.
