ABOUT
ME & TERAMI
Terami
is a singer-songwriter-pianist based in L.A. I first heard her
a few years ago while she was playing at an open mic in Hollywood.
I remember I was outside listening to some other music when a
friend pulled me inside the shop to hear the new girl at the piano.
I was blown away! But the song was over and the music stopped.
For
the next few weeks as I kept my (then) boyfriend company at other
open mics, I kept my eyes peeled for the piano player. Finally,
we went back to that first open mic place and she was there. I
approached her and told her I'd been looking for her...asked her
if she had a CD for sale. She didn't yet. But I remembered her
name and gave her my email.
In
early 2000 her album All Girl Band came out. I got a copy and
it's still one of my favorites. Doesn't really get old.
I
know now she has her own website and stuff, but since I started
this site way back when, I feel like it's nice to keep it going.
(Although, I've been really lazy over the past year.)
Sometimes
I send emails to Terami - she's really nice and always seems to
remember who I am. I make it a part-time hobby to help promote
her online. (Not only through this website, but also through some
online discussion groups / forums.) I just think it's cool that
she puts so much heart into her music and is such a nice person
too.

MY
QUESTIONS FOR TERAMI
I
sent Terami an email a while ago, asking some questions I was
dying to know and she answered back. I put it kind of in an interview
format.
QUESTIONS:
How
does you pronounce "Terami"?
Rhymes with "Jeremy"
Is
Terami a stage name?
No. My parents were quasi-hippies who thought phoenetically
it meant "Earth Friend" if you speak French. (Hippies!)
Are
you influenced by Tori?
Again, no...but kinda. I think Tori is an inspiration,
but I don't want to be like her or anythings. I want to make songs
that are a little more intimate - keep it on the indie level.
What
is Setting The Record Straight all about?
Is it your favorite song or do you skip it? As Terami explains,
"[it's] all those things you bury in the backyard. but it's
who you are really."
Do
you really record at home?
Yes. All Girl Band was recorded in my apartment. Sometimes
my manager would be right outside my window, calling for her cats
or sweeping the porch. It was a little annoying, but I like the
feel of the album - it sounds really raw.
Did
her mom really blush when she heard the album?
Yes.
What's
the deal with K.Benson? Who IS that?
I'm dating him. He's an electronic musician and producer.
...Interesting...
Where
is you originally from?
Los Angeles.
When
is your birthday?
March 1
Are
you going to make more music videos?
I was a Film major in college and produced a video of one
of my songs. I'd like to make more, if I can get some money together.
